⏸️ Take Control: Pause Your Buddy When You Need To

Sometimes you need to step in personally – and now you can! We've added the ability to pause your Facebook Messenger Buddy on a per-conversation basis for set periods or indefinitely, giving you complete control over when to take over specific conversations.

Note: This feature is currently available for Facebook Messenger only. We're working on bringing pause controls to other integrations soon!

Why Pause Your Buddy?​

While your Buddy is excellent at handling most customer queries, there are times when a human touch makes all the difference:

  • Complex technical issues that need specialist knowledge
  • Sensitive customer concerns requiring empathy and personal attention
  • High-value negotiations where relationship building matters
  • Unique requests outside your Buddy's current knowledge base

Now you can seamlessly switch between AI assistance and personal service whenever needed.

Pause Buddy Options

How It Works​

When viewing your Facebook Messenger chat logs, you'll see a new "Pause Buddy" option for each individual conversation. This allows you to pause your Buddy for that specific conversation only, while keeping it active for all other chats.

Choose from several pause duration options:

  • Pause for 5 minutes – Perfect for quick personal responses
  • Pause for 30 minutes – Handle extended conversations
  • Pause for 1 hour – Deal with complex issues at your own pace
  • Pause for 1 day – Take extended personal control
  • Pause Indefinitely – Full manual control until you reactivate

Important: Pausing one conversation doesn't affect your Buddy's responses in other active conversations.

Where to Find It​

The pause controls are available directly in your:

Dashboard > Chat Logs > Facebook Source

Simply click the "Pause Buddy" button next to any specific Facebook Messenger conversation you want to take control of.

Best Practices​

  • Quick handover: Use short pauses (5-30 minutes) for immediate personal responses
  • Complex issues: Opt for longer pauses (1 hour+) when dealing with technical problems
  • Remember to reactivate: Your Buddy will automatically resume after timed pauses, but indefinite pauses require manual reactivation

This feature ensures you get the best of both worlds – AI efficiency when it works perfectly, and human expertise exactly when you need it.
